Pesty can you explain Rose knowing he is Bernard or do you think she is in on it?? |

I don't think either one of them (Rose and Bernard) are in on it. For the following reasons: 1) Rose discovering the healing properties of the island. I think if she was in on it she would known about it. 2) Bernard was too adamant about building the SOS, he seemed too anxious to get off the island

I agree with GB that Bernard seemed too anxious to get off the island. I think if either of them had been in on it, they`re reaction to the healing properties would have been different and less surprised. But then again, there`s something a bit strange with Rose... --Last edited by Rainflower on 2006-06-30 03:35:59 -- |

Pen - I'm not sure about Rose yet... I'm thinking she's related somehow to Walt possibly a maternal grandmother? We don't know a lot about Walt's (dead) mother yet But Bernard could possibly be a (Bad) twin... Maybe the real Bernard was captured or killed in the plane crash and "Fernard"(lol!) is taking his place. Rose and "Bernard" were also separated for 48 days. That's a long time. Suttle changes might not have been noticed. "Wanting" to get off the Island would of course be part of an "over acting" M.O. If someone is a mole... I'm thinking it's either Kate or Bernard. A major twist is a coming... I feel it!!! Well thanks for your thoughts anyway... --Last edited by Tempest on 2006-06-30 04:03:57 --

Hmmmm.....our flashback of Rose and Bernard was all told through Rose's memory, correct? And you are correct, subtle changes may not yet have been noticed by Rose if he was Fernard. I'd like to see a twist in their storyline! I always thought him being found in the tree as suspicious. It'd be cool to see this one pan out. |

Edit: He doesn't just answer his name... He pauses... thinks... then barely spits it out...As if he momentarily forgot it. ANA: You're going to be alright, Bernard. I need you to unbuckle your seat belt and grab the branch next to you. BERNARD [referring to the guy next to him]: Is he dead? I think he's dead. Edit: He's a Dentist a Doctor mind you... Don't you think he'd know if someone was dead? Bernard was also up in a tree scared to death that he would fall while being strapped into the seat. Having a pause may just mean he really doesn't know who he is speaking with, still scared and has a lapse of "in the moment", and he also was scared to grab the branch in front of him. Only meaning that without checking the dead guy's pulse, Bernard was only guessing. $ .02

Bernard has never bugged me as much as Rose...I think there is a whole lot more to her...I think back to the conversation she had with Locke about the Island's healing...seemed like she was...fishing. |

Interesting....it would be a good twist if Rose was the 'odd' one of the two. Because she just seems so innocent and sweet. And also - how she KNEW Bernard was alive. Maybe she knew that due to more nefarious reasons that just faith. |

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks that Rose & Bernard are suspicious. I agree that Rose especially has alot more to her story than meets the eye.

Exactly, Momo -- something is not 'right' with that duo. I hope we see more of this in S3. |

We must be about due Pen it has been quite a while since we saw them last. Maybe we will see them next week. BTW, speaking of trust, did anyone else think it was weird that Sayid screwed up like he did last night. It all seemed too easy, almost as if he wanted things to play out the way they did. Did anyone else find that a bit strange? I mean, he is a military specialist of sorts, do you really believe he never thought they would attack the boat?

In Sayid's defense, he is a communication specialist (torturer), not a strategic planner. He probably wouldn't be trained for much jungle fighting or naval battles either, so you have to cut him some slack there. His major flaw was not protecting your biggest assests and underestimating the power of the enemy.

I also suspect that Sayid figured he'd hear a boat approaching from the water if they came that way - and really, wouldn't you think it would be easier to approach from land unseen? How did they get there so quietly, anyway? |

Okay, getting off topic here on this thread. Ralf, Jeannie, maybe you guys can post these thoughts in a new GD topic? |

That is actually interesting. In the ABC website - AMEX sneak peek thingy, one of the "clues" was about that. It asked "how did the others get to the boat without being seen?" There is some way they can sneak around without being seen. I just have not quite figured out what it is. Tunnels maybe? Running real fast like superman? Invisibility?
