Yeah I too thought he could refer to the Island , but he'd then be considering it as a conscient being that would WANT them to go back ?! hmmm ... if we take this approach , given the time they spent on the island I suppose by the time Hurley says this phrase he knows a lot more about the Island and Jacob's "powers" ... and if he refers to the Island and not to Jacob then maybe Jacob himself is JUST a projection of the island ?!

ETA : That would explain Christian appearing in Jacob's shack as it's just an island projection and the island can project whatever it wants .

Hurley definitely said "it".  I understand what you're saying manar, that the island manifests itself to humans in "human" form as Jacob.  Stephen King fans will remember that It worked the same way through creepy clown guy.  I think all the survivors are destined to learn a lot more about the island before they actually leave it (like, they aren't leaving in the next few epis).  Hopefully the endgame won't be their actual departure from the island with some or all of the six still trying to get back in flash forwards.

ETA:  And if Charlie is a manifestation in the "real world", maybe the island is able to have broader influence (away from the island) now that the jamming mechanism is turned off

I'm thinking that the eye Hurley sees in the shack belongs to LOCKE... I paused it & it looks like him, plus LOCKE has more access to the Jacob/It than anyone right now, as he spoke to IT & IT saved him & gave him his legs (again)

While Hurley has a chat with the 'Oceanic Air Representative' there happens to be a chalk board sketch resembling the mural in the hatch...its no where near similar but the concept is there.

In the scene Hurley is told that someone is watching him, which leads us to assume this is Charlie, but in reality there is another patient looking directly at Hurley.



One of the first, and most awesome, Lost Easter Eggs was Charlie's message to Hurley in the interrogation room.


ABC has published a new 'making of' video Podcast detailing the making of the scene including some insight from the guy that served as Charlie's double.

This may be stretching but here it goes...this is also from docarzt...

Ho Hos figured prominently in this episode, it was where Charlie was standing in the store when Hurley freaked out, AND the letters "HO" appear briefly in the background when Hurley flips out at Matthew Abaddon.  While chocolate cake may have nothing to do with the secrets of Lost, the element the letters 'Ho' represent may!

Originally dubbed "Element X" by Jacques Soret and Marc Delafonatine, who discovered it, Holmium (chemical symbal HO) is said to possess "the highest magnetic moment (10.6µB) of any naturally-occurring element and possesses other unusual magnetic properties."

The episode was awesome I thought. I was glad to see my Charlie again and I cried when Hurley told Claire about his death.

I'm glad that we know who three of the Oceanic 6 are. I think Claire and Aaron are two more, because Desmond said he saw them get rescued. Whoever the sixth person, the one that ends up in coffin, I don't know.

I didn't notice who was in the back ground but I thought I saw Locke's eye. I really think that Locke has seen Jacob now and they shared some secrets.

I think Charlie's ghost is real, not a trick from the island.

I have to rewatch this a couple of time in order to catch everything that I may have missed. Altogether, I loved it!

The Ho stuff is really interesting.

I agree that hurley in the chair was just a red herring.

I am going to let myself trust TPTB and accept that Charlie WAS there, in some way or fashion, talking to Hurley.
