Methinks the Hostiles are natives to the island... someone at LTV made the comparison to native Americans and European settlers.

Hostiles lived there, Dharma found the island somehow and decided they wanted to use it for research facilities. At some point, there was some sort of "purge"... but would a purge not suggest taking some out from their own? So then would the Hostiles then be Dharma members who decided they wanted out, formed together and fought back or something? I've read too many different ideas on this already this morning, so my mind has different points of view, too many to just make this one post at once LOL.

Anyways, discuss, dammit.

They're not natives in the sense that they are not indigenous.  They are too racially diverse, they all have American accents (except for Mikhail) and none of them appear to be Pacific islanders.  But the I agree they could be "settlers," or rather, descendants of settlers.

Although I have a big problem with that theory.  If they were there first, they must have been living a fairly primitive existence.  They are totally isolated on an island nobody knows even exists.  How did they build their nice little suburb?  They would have to have had some serious support from the outside.  So maybe they were living in the "fake" hut village, then Dharma came in with all their technology, and eventually the Others seized everything?

I think it is possible that the nice little village was built by Dharma and that the Other Aquired it.

The Hostiles take things that belng to others, they capture and use mind control on the captives, they think lieing is an art form...I'd say the Hostiles are the descendants from the Black Rock.

Interesting Ralf. Potentially we could have life on this island for at least a century then, if not longer?

I'd read a few other people around suggesting the same, Ralf. I'd also read some people making a theory that Radzinsky was an Other while Kelvin was Dharma and that for whatever reason, they worked together.

Now, if Radzinsky was an Other/Hostile and they are descendants from the Black Rock, it may make sense why Magnus Hanso's burial site is marked on the blast door map... otherwise, I can't see why they'd even give a damn where he's buried.

Good point ILE. Which begs the question - do we have a "Hanso" descendant currently on the island????
