After seeing "Expose" the Cobra reveal in the story as being the bad guy on that show could be a hint that there is a bad guy with the Losties who up until now has been considered one of the good guys.

It would then stand to reason that this person is "Him."

Last night I read a thread at the 'Lage discussing that this person could be Charlie. I laughed at first, but then I had a dream last night it was Charlie (yes I need a life). Here are my thoughts today - from a post I made there:

REASONS HE IS NOT HIM:1. The Heroin Addiction -- wouldn't Jacob/Him need to be well in control and not running around in withdrawal from heroin when he arrives at the island??

2. All of his near death experiences recently -- seems to point towards a different direction with his character.

3. He shot Ethan.

SUPPORT CHARLIE COULD BE "HIM" OR SOMEONE BAD:1. Ethan hung him from a tree -- he lived. (This could have been staged).
2. He shot Ethan -- a sacrifice necessary to keep his cover perhaps.
3. His obsession with Claire may be more because of Aaron then anything else.
4. His friendship with Eko - who I would perceive as an island threat -- maybe to monitor what he was up to?
5. He always wanted in S1 and S2 to tag along on hikes and expeditions - but never really seemed to "fit in"
6. How accurate is his backstory? Its only as accurate as TPTB are willing to show us.

Obviously the biggest hangup with him being evil is the drug problem. Otherwise there is enough to make an argument.  

What do you guys think??

Seriously though, I guess it could be anyone. And Charlie would not be one you thought would fit the descrïption, so it would be a great surprise.
My biggest problem with this is also the heroin addiction, which does seem to contradict him being capable of being a great leader.

Oh yes - we need to add that diaper commercial to the cons about this one

In reality - no matter who "HIM" is, if it is a main character we will have issues with it because no one fits the bad guy role well. They all will have cons. I find Charlie to be a more unsuspecting choice though - since he is seemingly such a dolt.

We have seen some darker aspects to his personality throughout the show though.  

List of other potential HIM suspects:

1. Sayid
2. Claire
3. Sun
4. Jin

I didn't put Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke or Hurley on here because of their interaction with the Others. I would guess that HIM would be known by the Others, although maybe its a double-blind and they don't know who HIM is. This would also be true if HIM is a woman - that they didn't know the true identity and just assumed it is a man.

Well, Sayid has interacted with them now as well. So unless they don't know who HIM is, you'd have to say it wasn't him.

But - he barely interacted and was merely taken hostage. I'm talking - torture, in depth conversations, etc. So with that clarification, I can put Hurley back on the HIM list LOL

Claire and Sun has interacted with them as well. So if they know who him is, that would rule out them too I guess.

I confuse myself so much trying to think all this through.

Okay forget my interaction theory.

It is possible if the Others/Ben has never seen who HIM is LOL

Just thought of something.  I remember awhile back TPTB said that Charlie would be turning very dark. That he was heading toward a downward spiral. Or something like that.  

Can we keep TPTB quotes from interviews/podcasts/etc. out of these threads, plz? I know that is an old spoiler, but regardless, it shouldn't be said. Some people are touchy with spoilers, so we should really keep GD to discussion of just stuff we've seen on the show/in previews.

It's not fair to ruin people's enjoyment, even if just a bit.
