Naomi arrived on the Island by parachute.

According to Naomi, she worked for a company hired by Penelope Widmore. They were given coordinates and told that they were looking for Desmond Hume. Naomi was skeptical about the whole operation, as the coordinates were just a point in the middle of the ocean, causing her team to believe the mission was a fool's errand. While flying the helicopter back to her ship, which was (anchored) 80 nautical miles from the Island, the clouds suddenly parted and she saw land. The instruments on the helicopter then began to malfunction, and Naomi parachuted out before the craft crashed into the ocean.

Why was she 80 nautical miles from her ship when it was already starting to get dark?
And why did we see the helicopter crash at night, but she said the clouds suddenly cleared and she could see land?
Also the oxygen mask is still bothering me LOL.

And when she said she wasn`t alone, did she mean the crew on the ship?

That is precisely why I assumed I heard 18 and not 80.

It could be Pen. it seems far away to be 80.

I wonder if she is what Jack and Juliet was referring to, with their "we should tell her" conversation. If Mikhail really came running to the crash site because they somehow were expecting her, I guess Juliet (and Jack) could know about her too?

I don't think 80 is that unreasonable. That would be what, an hour by car in miles? Wouldn't be that far for a helicopter to go.

They didn't seem to find her presence surprising from my interpretation. I'm anxious to know what they know.

I thought they seemed surprised as well, Pen. But it could be because she had arrived early, or that she was at the beach camp I guess?

Interview with Naomi on DigitalSpy revealed a few interesting tidbits (not spoilerish):
