Penny is the British daughter of Charles Widmore, of Widmore Corp. Penny has a relationship with Desmond, that ends when Desmond is jailed.  She had inserted a love letter in his favorite book before he left for prison, but he did not find it until much later; it said that she would wait for him always.  Desmond wrote to Penny, but the letters are intercepted by her father, and never given to her.  Mr. Widmore had given him money to stay away from his daughter, who he said was getting married.

Penny tracked Desmond down in LA as he began training for his solo race around the world, and told him not to leave.  Desmond never told Penny that he wrote her, and asked when she would be married.  Penny said they had not set a date.

After Desmond is stranded on the island, Penny apparently tries to track him down.  The Portuguese-speaking men who man the arctic research station call her to let her know that they've found an electromagnetic signal.

I also think she is Libby's sister. Anyone else?
While I think they may be related, I do NOT think that Penelope knows of Libby's existence. I think Mr. Widmore has kept many secrets from his darling Penny, one of which is the fact he sent her half sister, Libby, to give Desmond a boat that would land on Craphole island.

I agree she may be Libby's sister. I really can't wait to see what next season holds in the Penelope/Desmond/Libby storylines.

I am hoping that we will see Penelope more in the second half of the season. I am guessing if Des has a flashback she will be featured.

But I really want to know what she has been doing in the week since the island became temporarily visible???

The rich mans Daughter that in fact is most definitely a better human being than her Dad. I think that she is far more intelligent than even her own Father realizes. I do look to see more of her in the Seasons to come.

Could it be that Desmond is her true lurve?
