Karl first appeared is Season 3 - Episode 1.  We dont know if he really is an OTHER in disguise or just another captive of the OTHERS.  We do know he appears to be an excellent lock picker and tried to help Sawyer escape.

And now we know that he IS an other and that he's involved with Alex.

Well, I wouldn't classify him as an other.  Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't erally classify Alex as one, either.  It seems they were both raised by the Others and may consider that their way of life, but we still don't know how Karl came to be with them so he could be from some normal parentage.  Especially seeing as it's not likely the Others are his true parents given their fertility issues.

who else thinks he was also born on the island? Since he never had heard of the Brady Bunch?

Yes, I think that was a clue that he has never been off the island.

I wish Sawyer and Kate had asked Karl more questions, about the Others and the island, but also about himself.

Why was he a prisoner - first in the cage and then in the brainwashing room? And why did Juliet let him leave with Sawyer and Kate?

Would Ben have killed him (if Alex left too) because he`s an over-protective father, or is there something more to it?
And who are his parents? Did the Others kidnap him too like the other children?

Is he still on the Losties island?

And I agree Rain. But I suspect they would not have gotten too much out of him at least not at first.

I think maybe Sawyer let Karl go because he was worried Kate would ask Karl to lead her back to the Others to rescue Jack. So instead of keeping Karl around to possibly get more information, Sawyer could have hoped sending Karl - the person who could lead the way - away would keep Kate safe and at the camp?

I wonder what Karl has been up to since Kate and Sawyer left him in the jungle? Did he already find his way back to Othersville and possible get captured again? Or is both him and Danielle spying on the others from behind different trees?

Here is a thought: Karl is about 16. Who gave birth to him? I'm presuming that he was born off island and arrived with his parents to work for Dharma. Timeline would fit as that is pre-Purge.

I agree Pen, I think they spared the children during the purge (they might have spared more people too, if Ben thought they would continue to work for the Others)

One thing bugging me... where the fuck did he come from? LOL. I mean, Ben pretty much kicked him out of their group if he was in hiding, we saw him caged... that must mean his parents are not with the group, and were not important. Otherwise, you'd think he wouldn't be punished and stuff the way he seems to be. It must be more than just Ben fearing Alex getting pregnant...

I found his sudden reappearance odd too.
And he didn't seem far from where they were camping, yet clearly isolated from the group.

I wonder if he could be a child of the DeGroots? It could explain some animosity between Ben and him since they were pro-Dharma and Ben appears anti-Dharma.

According to Ben he was afraid of Alex getting pregnant, and that`s why he wanted to keep her and Karl alive. But knowing Ben`s habit of lying, I wonder if there was also another reason for it? Even the most over-protecting father would know he can`t keep his daughter from dating forever.
