With the death of Libby, Hurley becomes more and more depressed. In a dream he is told that to overcome this depression he must seek the counsel of a man of the cloth or a man with the biggest stick, i.e. Mr. Eko.
     As a man of the cloth, Mr. Eko recognizes Hurleys pain and begins to tend to the needs of the youngest male on the island. Eko enlists Hurley to aid in the building of "The Church of the Big Stick"
    With long hard work and long hard nights of counsel, a bond is formed between Hurley and Mr. Eko. Upon rescue Hurley and Mr. Eko settle in San Francisco, where Mr. Eko forms a liberal church called "St. Mattress of the Springs" and Hurley becomes an interior decorator with such notable clients as PeeWee Herman and Ann Coulter.
