Olivia was the passenger in a car driven by Horace Goodspeed on a road 32 miles outside of Portland when they saw Roger Linus carrying his dying wife Emily and their new born baby out of the woods. They pulled over to help them and to take them to the hospital, but before they could, Emily passed away.

Later it was shown that Olivia and Horace were involved with DHARMA Initiative. Olivia worked on the island as a teacher. Both Ben and Annie were in the class that she taught.
