Emily is Ben`s mother, and first appears in S3 "Man behind the curtain". She was hiking with her husband, Roger, outside of Portland, Oregon when she went into labour. Emily was then 7 months pregnant. She gave birth to the baby in the woods, but continued to bleed after the birth. Roger carries her and the baby down to a road, where she dies. Before dying from the complications of the birth, she asks Roger to name their son Benjamin.

As a child, Ben sees apparitions of Emily on the Island.
