The actor is Nathan Fillion.
He is known for his role on Buffy in Season 7 - Caleb, and was on the sci-fi show by Josh Whedon which spawned the movie Serenity.

(He was also on my soap opera several years ago

I`m still thinking he resembled Ethan in some shots - I was wondering if it could be another point in the casting? That they tried finding someone who would look a bit like Ethan... like with Juliet/Sarah - and the comment Ben made to Jack about them looking alike. And Kevin`s mother did say she had 4 sons - maybe one of the other sons was Ethan... or maybe not
