I lurved Tom. Was very sad when I read the spoiler that he was one of the deaths.

Though I do lurve Mikhail... *waits for him to be dead, too*

Think he survived the grenade though?

So far Mikhail has survived the magnetic fence and a spear to the chest.  I think he will survive the explosion.  But is it realistic?  I wish Raider was here so he could tell us about underwater-exploding grenades.

ETA this is a show about a giant smoke monster and I am worried about realistic explosions?

The only part of tonight's episode that made me cry was when Charlie went to slam the door so Desmond couldn't get in. Why didn't he just run out and shut the door? I'm gonna be honest, I really liked this episode but none of it was a surprise. I read a post on lost.com that had the episode exactly as we saw tonight.

I just can't believe that someone let it leak out. Wonder why they would do that?

The whole flash forward, in my opinion, is a possiblity. The outcome of what could happen after Jack made that call. What was up with Locke just walking away?

There were a lot of really awesome moments tonight. Sayid and his neck breaking, Alex and Danielle meeting, Jack beating the hell outta Ben, Walt showing up to get Locke out of the ditch.

Then I got to thinking. If the flash forward really is just a possible outcome of the choice that Jack made by using the phone, how do we know he can't still change what happened?

I too wonder about Penny's transmission. If she wasn't in contact with the boat then where the hell is she comming from?


The entire episode had me focused on Desmond and Charlie. I was so hopeful that Charlie would survive. I agree that the death scene was beatiful. The way they showed his face as the water filled the room. They way his eyes widened as he realized it was finally his time. When he struggled to write that message to Des, it made me think about how heroic he was. It almost seemed to me that Charlie mouthed something to Des while their hands were pressed together. Charlie crossing himself was the most memorable part.

I feel so pathetic for saying that this but I cried and sobbed as if I'd just lost a relative.

Maybe, Charlie isn't done yet. This is Lost, ain't it?

Now that I've gotten all my sappy emotions out of the way, I'm gonna start in on Kate. I did not like her in the flash forward. She seemed so cold. Like she didn't care at all. And I think that Sawyer was in the casket.

I loved Hurley!!! I was cheering when he ran dude over!! I also thought Sayid breaking other dude's neck with his legs was totally bad-ass!!! i am glad that Sayid, Bernard, and Jin didnt die! i was in tears when Jack heard the gunshots on the walkie. I looked over at hubby during the commercial and said "Tom didn't shoot them. I don't believe Tom would shoot them." I was shocked when later on in the episode Tom was the one saying that they should have shot them for real! WTF! I was thinking Tom may be on the Losties side soon. Guess not. I was also surprised that Sawyer shot him. He seemed so upset and pissy after killing Cooper, I just didn't see it coming. Loved that Jack kicked Ben's ass! Woo hoo!! I teared up a bit when Ben was all "Alex, this is your mother". Wow, what a way to find out your dead mom isn't so dead! Man, I wanna know who was in the damn casket!!!  I do think Jack was just fucked up on his meds and he was drinking on top of it, so I think that's where the "dad" stuff came from. I wonder who Kate is with! And how she is not in jail. What's with the lying they are doing? Ack!!! So much to think about the next 8 freakin' months!

I loved the Hurley to the rescue scene! I think that Sawyer didn't want Hurley with him because he was protecting him. The same with Kate. He didn't want to have to worry about other people he cared about. Good thing Hurley didn't listen to him.

I also loved seeing Alex and Danielle meet, Sayid killing the guy, Charlie being heroic and his last second thought to tell Desmond about Penny, and Rose's lines.

I'm totally confused about the ending, and I had been spoiled and knew it was coming. Jack looks horrible with that beard, btw.

I think Charlie didn't run out of the room and slam the door, because he was fulfilling Desmond's vision. He knew that Des saw Claire and Aaron rescued, because Charlie turned off the jamming device and drowned. I think he was willing to drown because he wanted to make sure Claire and Aaron survived.

Vincent this is my thought too. I started to think it was a daydream of his -- he was making a LOT of tough choices during the episode. And perhaps what we saw was something he had been chewing over ever since he returned to the beach with Juliet and decided that they were getting off of the island.

The episode was all screwy for me. I watched the second half first then the first half last.. then the whole thing all over again.

But it was a good episode. One of the best this season IMO.
I don't like that Charlie is dead. I think a lot of fans are not going to be happy with i. But like someone already said. It IS Lost. Who knows what might happen.

it was a really back and forth epi last night, everytime one side gained the upper hand, the other side came back at them. So many ups and downs, edge of the seat stuff, like a boxing match. I must say TPTB sure gave us something to mull over for 8 months, and mull we shall. There is no need to repost much of what was said already in this thread, but a couple things stand out for me:

- I believe Jacks' FF, I think it showed how haunted he is by the decisions while still on the island, starting with the sat phone call.
- Ben telling Richard to take the people and "I'll meet you at the temple". yet another reference to an older society?
- when Sawyer said "this is for taking the boy" LOL, I had completely forgotten that is was Tom on the boat that took Walt. TPTB did such a good job of making us like Tom.
- and lastly Ben to Richard: "I'm going to talk them out of it" LOL, should have been "I'm going to get my ass kicked"

So who is left of the Others? LOL. Karl, Alex (probably not so much now LOL), Ben and Richard? Is that it? That we know of at least.

Super, the underwater grenade would be survivable, but from what I saw, not in this case.  Mikhail held the grenade to the window to ensure that it would implode.  Had he put about 8-10 feet of water between himself and the explosion, he most likely would have survived.  Ballistics testing has shown that even with a .50 caliber round, 10-12 feet of water between you and the point of entry is enough to ensure the almost total destruction of the round before it gets to you.  With a grenade, once the spoon is removed ( the little lever he popped after pulling the pin) you have 3-5 seconds  depending on the fuse type.  Like I said, it appeared that he held it to the window to ensure maximum blast power.  Hope that helps Super!

Ten went to the Losties' beach - and all died. Three (the 2 gun women and Mikhail) were at the Looking Glass and died, we know Ben, Alex, Karl, and Richard are alive... that's 17 accounted for. Aren't there like 30 or 40 of them? So we have another anonymous 13+ that must be at the Temple with Richard. Among them Cindy and the kids.

eta: Cindy wasn't one of the women at the Beach, was she?
