They could be used Dharma food jars, except they hadn't gotten into the Swan as of yet. They could of been on the plane, except planes travel with single serve packets, I've yet to see a meal served "family style" on a plane.
And it's nice to see that Nikki has been able to keep all those bugs alive for so long, quite the entomologist that girl.

Another thing about the diamonds.  It's surprising that Sawyer didn't think of them as a bartering tool with the others.  Not sure why the others would need them either, but for Sawyer to at least suggest it would have been more in cahracter.

Yeah, I don't think Sawyer would offer them as a bartering tool with the others. What good would they have for them? Sawyer is a con man, he's a smart man, it wouldn't make much sense to try to use them for trading, etc. with the Others.
