Why was Kate crying when she retold Jacks story...thought that was a bit dramatic... This epi reminded me of 2 movies... A clockwork orange and Meet Joe Black |

I thought Kate's crying was out of place. But I thought Juliette's two different personalities were kinda striking. Shy and timid in Miami and cold and calm and calculating on the island.
![]() Juliet What is that? Richard Alpert That is orange juice...with a considerable amount of Dharma Calms Forte mixed in. Juliet You want me to drink it? |

I guess three years in captivity will change a person. Of course it could be longer. Does time move slower on Little Craphole Island, just like on Big Craphole? In which case 3 years is more like 15. OR does time move at our pace. I thought Kate was a bit annoying but I guess she is uspposed to be in love with Jack too. WHat made that scene for me was Giacchino's score as they floated away. |

www.mittelosbioscience.org Greg Nations at the 'lage says it isn't official, but it's well done if anyone wants to see. And now I'm doing a rewatch of the episode. ![]() I didn't notice the plane that flies past when Jules opens the curtains in her first flashback... Oceanic, of course, lol.

Though, I can't see anything on the site, so it may be gone now. There's a thread at LTV that has screencaps, etc.

Mittelos anagrams to "Lost Time." Just thought that was interesting. I'm thinking that maybe the room (no. 23) where Carl was held is the room where Ms. Klugh threatened to take Walt back to. Anyone else thinking that? Kate's crying was a bit annoying, but I think she knew she was leaving Jack behind and was afraid for him. For all she knows, it's the last time she'll ever talk to him. So I guess I can understand it. And yes SM, the scoring was fantastic in that scene! |

Jeannie, I'm thinking what a coincidence between Carl in room 23 and the release of the Jim Carey movie "23". My thoughts after the epi ended centered around the Danielle/Alex/Ben(dad) options.

I think that Alex thinks of Ben as her dad, that he probably raised her, but I don't think he's her biological dad. Since Ben said he's always been on the island, and Danielle says she was pregnant when her ship brought her there, I don't see how Ben could be the biological father. Unless of course, Danielle has been lying to the Losties. Or Ben was lying to Jack when he said he'd always been there. Hopefully we'll get more answers to that relationship soon! |

Yeah, I think he's just raised her. She doesn't always call him dad, etc. She has referred to him as Ben, so I'm sure she knows he isn't her real father.

that's what I keep coming back to Jeannie, so if that is the case, I wonder what Ben has told her about her mother. I can't see him saying "your mother lives on the other island" and then allowing her to come and go between the two islands as she pleases. Oh well, time will tell.

I thought this episode rocked, who the hell is Mr. Albert?? Is he him? I was very intrigued by Juliettes two personalitites also, sorry for all the misspelling, lol That was so freaky when Ben woke up on the operating table! I am anxious to see the Ben/Alex thing work out and see how he convinced her he is her father or is he all the "childrens" father like a cult? |

A good episode to start with after the hiatus. Things I really liked were: Alex - got to see more of her character and I really like Alex. She is well cast - very like her mother (Danielle) but at the same time with youthful energy and spunk. Really gives us a feeling of what Danielle may have been like before she went kind of looney. Also - as usual loved Sawyers nicknames - I think I lost count of the things he called Alex - Sheena was the first. Kate was better - more classic Kate - loved the scene where she told Sawyer to shoot the dude in the knee and he said - "What?" and she grabbed the gun and would have shot him, and then ended up smacking him in the face with the rifle butt anyway. I like bad Kate better than whiny Kate. Juliet was really good. We got to see much more of her different character - and understand how her ex-husband controlled her and made her timid and unsure, and how she has now grown to be confident and calculating. Great that we really still do not know where she stands - good or bad. I loved the bus scene. I had been spoiled for that - even though I tried hard not to be spoiled, but it was great anyway. Of course the implication is that Mittleos Bioscience (a Division of the Hanso Foundation no doubt) took care of that. As for the website - http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/ - my feeling is that it is a fan site based on someone getting a sneak preview of the episode. The info in it is too exact to be just spoilers, but note that it is also information ONLY from that episode. The server it is on seems to hit capacity a lot - says Service Unavailable. If it was an official site I think it would probably tend not to do that and would also have a more broad based amount of info rather than focus on only one episode. Great work on the site though - props to the designer!!! Getting back to the episode - I LOVED the stuff they were showing Karl - the fans will rip into that in detail like the Blast Door map. TPTB know we love that stuff, so it is a shout out to us online LOST nuts that they put that in. The average viewer will not delve into it too much, but I am pretty sure I saw some stuff there that has meaning - Jacob, and some other stuff. Loved the Oceanic Plane in Miami of course. Got some good answers to questions - about what happened to Karl, confirming that Alex & Karl are genuine about their rebel attitudes (typical teenagers!) and that Alex considers Ben her father. Also got some good background about how some of the others got on the island - Juliet & Ethan thru Mittleos - (Hanso/Dharma). Loved the way the episode title played out - "Well we're Not really in Portland" - Not in Portland - but on the Island! So Juliet voluntarily signed up (like Kelvin) but then found out it was not exactly what she suspected and she ended up being a virtual prisoner. Some people may seem ok with that - but I suspect that they are more prone to the mind games (brainwashing) and that Juliet's personality (based on her past) has made her more tough and able to fight back. There was not much I did not like. The Kate/Jack thing was needed to remind us that Kate really does love Jack in her heart. I agree that the score (as usual) made a lot of the scenes. Nice touch about Karl in Room 23. On our ABC we had a preview for the movie "The Number 23". I wonder if it showed in a lot of places. Not a coincidence I do not think. Looking forward to next week!

I think Danielle's story about Alex being kidnapped is true. As far as I can tell, her real father is Danielle's husband, she shot him when he came down with the sickness. Ben raised Alex and truly thinks of her as his daughter, that's why he lets her get away with so much, she's his pet. I am wondering if there is a mother figure as well? Someone had to teach her all that girly stuff while Ben was out being executive VP for creepiness. BTW, what ever happened to the sickness? And, oh yeah, the monster? This show drives me crazy! Although I have to say the current storyline is much more interesting than Smokey. |

Yep, yep, and yep. LOL How many of you tried to turn your head upside-down and read Ben's lips as he talked to Juliette alone? ![]() The bus that whacked Ed had an Apollo ad on it. Us OWA'ers got a preview of that, but I'm putting it here for non-OWA'ers. |

Vincent, I am not so sure I agree with you. I think she is still insecure, that is why Henry has been able to control her all these years. Sure, she showed Jack some flash cards, it was slightly rebellious, but it was not a real effort to save Jack or herself. Has she tried to escape? Has she tried to kill Henry or stage a coup or anything? We don't know, but I am not sure she is all that strong a woman. Hell, it still could be all a lie. Maybe she doesn't want to leave, maybe she is still playing Jack. Kate is a much stronger woman, she takes action and takes care of herself. Her love for jack and Sawyer is her weakness, but in her flashback we saw her leave a man she supposedly loved. Also, I don't think parsing the video is all that important. To me, the important part of the scene was Sawyer's reaction to the onscreen phrases. He was entranced and it was saying "examine your life" and "we are the cause of our own problems" or something like that. Well, the other important part of that scene was the fact that they were totally torturing a kid. --Last edited by supermodel on 2007-02-08 11:37:36 -- |

GREAT lil ditch Alex had for Sawyer and Kate. I wonder if they're dotted around everywhere on the main island? That would explain the "whispers", eh? |

I thought Alex had built that to hide from Ben's goons when she runs away on her little adventures. |
