Rain -- excellent point on Juliet, fertility, and the children - I didn't see that, but that makes a lot of sense!!

I sadly agree with WOC after much reflection about who Kate chooses: the reference to Jack's "Live Together, Die Alone" comment really was a foreshadowing moment. She is soo stupid to pick Jack! *grumbles*

I`m still having hopes she meant it when she said she loves Sawyer lol.

And I loved the scene when Kate was changing and Sawyer started beeping - and the waterbucket .

And of course the "did you just kill that bunny?".

Juliette didn't have the mdical expertise to find stop the bleeding of Colleen. The two goons giving the shot to Sawyer barely knew how to use a syringe.  I don't think the combined medical experience of the hostiles could implant a pacemaker...but Sawyer doesn't know that.

Oh and my favorite zinger from last night--- Jack: "Why would I want to make you feel better?" (or to that effect)

I loved the Pulp Fiction referance in the syringe shot - with the needle and "like in the movie".

Well if Juliette is a fertility doctor, shouldn't she know some basic general surgery - like how to stop bleeding??

Or maybe she got her degree on Craphole.

I think it was more complicated a surgery than she could handle. I do think Jack was telling the truth when he said Colleen was dead before she was on the table.

I'm still holding out hope for Kate and Sawyer. I think the "live together die alone" reference was to say I won't leave you.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it until she actually says she loves Jack.

I know I saw Jeannie ask somewhere about where in the book the Of Mice and Men quotes were drawn.  In the Penguin Great Books of the 20th century edition, Benry's quote appears on pages 72-73 (of 116).  I can't find a posted transcrïpt (and Sunday morning cartoons preclude me rewatching at the moment), but I don't believe Sawyer's reference was an exact quote.  That implies more a difference in the way they read and remember, with Benry being more apt to memorize quotes and Sawyer using the characters and plot more like pop-culture refrences.  I believe the difference suits their characters well, and would explain why they wouldn't understand each other's references.

The portion of the quote before Benry's reference is also interesting:  "S'pose you had to sit there and read books.  Sure, you could play horseshoes till it got dark, but then you got to read books.  Books ain't no good.  A guy needs somebody--to be near him." He whined, "A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody.  Don't make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with with you.  I tell ya"  he cried, "I tell ya' a guy gets too lonely and he gets sick."

Awesome WOC!

That is what I love about LOST. The fact that a reference to a book would make people actually go to the book and find information there that was not in the show but relates to it. That is so Sawyer. He is the only one who reads and reads all the time, yet he cannot live on books alone.

I love it!!!

Bointz to you!!!!

I was able to catch the epi before I went out of town, y'all have dicussed and posed most of the same thoughts and questions that I have. What I am having trouble with is reconciling the "the other island" effect. If Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Benry, Hydra Station, etc. are on another island, then that would explain the others came by sea to Sun on the boat, thus bypassing Sayid and Jin. Here are my main 2 questions:
1) If the others cozy little village on Island 2, then what's up with Benry telling Ethan and Goodwin to "run" and "shouldn't take you more than an hour" That's a lot of water to cross in an hour.
2) That would make the Hydra Station on Island 2, but if I remember correctly, didn't Dr. Lefty say on the orientation that there were 6 stations on "the island" singular, not "the islands" plural.

GB, I was wondering the same thing and this was actually sort of addressed in Gregg Nations' (scrïpt coordinator) forum over at the 'lage... his answer was "I think it will all become clear as more episodes air"

Not anything conclusive but better than "Hmm, interesting question... (evil laugh)"

(BTW, Gregg's thread is fun to read, he actually answers almost all the questions that are asked of him, even if his answer is "watch, wait and see"... )

I am not buying the whole "another island" thing.  I don't have an explanation, but it seems there must be more to it than that.

*thinks of explanation...

Would you prefer that they are two seperate island but made from the same volcano?  That way they could be reusing one of the volcano's ventalation shafts as a tunnel between the two islands.

6 stations on the 'island' would not include the Hydra Station.

rom the Blast Door Map there are:
1. Swan
2. Arrow
3. Staff (Cadeuceaus?)
4. Flame (Not seen yet)
5. Unknown
6. Unknown

a 7th scratched out and the Pearl is in the center as a ?

I think the Hydra is on a second island and is not included in the 6. I also think that 'otherville' is on the island based on the view of the crash and the comments about running.

I believe there must be at least a third island - Pala which houses barracks and probably an airstrip, and maybe another station.

We are not done yet kiddies!!!!!
