I think they said something about fixing the pipes -- so he can do plumbing? Plus he was Claire's "doctor" so just call Ethan a "jack-of-all-trades..." Off to rewatch now.

I still think the kid prisoner was a set up to show Sawyer how he shouldn't try to escape. But I didn't think he was under the house - I was pretty sure that was Ethan. I'm going to go rewatch myself. I have time before I have to got to my game! |

Why does Tom force the kid to apologize to Sawyer? What is gained? Surely it wasn't to make Sawyer feel better, lol... and the Others aren't exactly role models of common courtesy. Humiliation? Taming technique? |

I thought the apology, and more importantly, the bloody nose were staged to make Sawyer trust the boy and think he was not an Other.

I'm just re-watching (again). Juliet and Jack's conversation about the Dharma Initiative has been bugging me. It goes something like this: Jack: Is this one of their stations--the Dharma Initiative: Juliet: They called it the Hydra. Jack: So you people are just...whatever's left over Juliet: Well that was a long time ago. Juliet: It doesn't matter who we were, it only matters who we are. Since Kelvin called the Others "the hostiles", I think the incident may have been the uprising of the "subjects" on the island against the DeGroots and the Dharma Initiative. Her dialogue also brings up the notion of redeption once again. Benry's suggestion that the next two weeks are going to be difficult for the captives leads me to believe they will be undergoing extensive "therapy" to effect some kind of personality change, maybe even an attempt to make them citizens of Dharmaville. |

I am starting to really believe that Benry's others are the result of Dharma experiments and that they are genetically engineered or modified humans. Look at the strength Ethan had, and Goodwin too - it was more or less a fluke that Ana speared him. Juliet clocks Jack unconscious under water with one whack? They are the super-soldier gone AWOL, and now - they probably want to continue to improve - themselves and Kate, Sawyer and Jack. I'm surprised they don't want Sayid and Jin too. ETA: Dang it - I just realized this is a theory. Sorry TI - rules and VM don't always line up just right ![]() So to keep on track - focus on the Juliet whacking Jack thing ok? --Last edited by Vincent_Madison on 2006-10-10 16:48:45 --

VM, go create a theory thread on this! I have more to share and comment on with you about it, but as a Mod, I cannot condone this continued babble here old Dog! ![]() |

Seperating Theories from the episode is cumbersome, brain pattern wise. As ARG'ers we are immersed in theories and spec...which is exactly what fansites and games are. I'm sure posting T&S here is a sin many of us will commit over and over. So here we only expand our minds to 27 diagonal inches, the other thread we can fly to the moon, or at least antarctica. --Last edited by rottenralf on 2006-10-10 21:59:03 --

You're right Ralf. It's true that things that happen in the new episodes get us thinking about new theories or confirming ones that we might already have. We 'rebels' have trouble separating these kinds of thoughts. That's why most of us left the "others" (or got banned)

OK - I started a thread over in the T&S section about my BOAGESH theory - Benry's Others Are Genetically Engineered Super Humans. --Last edited by Vincent_Madison on 2006-10-10 23:13:10 --

I was thinking about the scene where Jack tries to escape. Do you think it was some sort of a set-up by Juliet and Benry, perhaps to make Jack trust Juliet more easily later on? At first I thought Juliet refused to give Jack the food after he sat down in the corner as some sort of a power-trick, but was there a doorway in the plexi glass? Or did she have to go out in the hall-way to enter the cell with Jack in it? It still seems strange she would enter the room alone - at all other times she seemed very much in control, as well as careful. They must have guessed if he got loose he would attempt to open the hatch door, as it seemed like the logical way out. Maybe they knew the waterflood wouldn`t really kill them, but allowing Jack to see Benry locking Juliet in with him would make it easier to trust Juliet down the line? It didn`t seem like they had TOO much trouble closing the door - I just thought it would have been much harder to close it if the ocean was pressing on from the other side... It looked a bit like the water flood slowed down a bit after the intital burst-through, if they were underwater and the door was opened out to the ocean would the water slow down? Unless Benry is an even bigger asshole than I thought, who doesn`t care whether or not Juliet dies.... Okay, enough rambling LOL |

Could be Rain. That certainly makes sense. |
