Pen - I sent you an email.  I'm very sorry this happened though.  

We were all blind-sided. She went out with us for drinks last Friday after work. I text messaged her over the weekend about Greys Anatomy. I spent 30 min at work yesterday training her on something at her request.

She seemed perfectly happy, albeit busy. I'm not sure, since I was not at work when this happened, whether she approached them for more money or not. All I know is that the other attorney she worked for was throwing a fit in his office, but then calmly trying to get her to stay. I bet he pushed someone into offering her money. He's a senior associate so he has more power than me.

But this really is a saga for me LOL! Yes, I'll start another poll when the next one arrives. In the meantime, I have no clue what tomorrow will bring. I'm thinking of calling off LOL.

That might not be a bad idea. Because it sounds like it's going to be an ugly day at the office.

As of Friday she retracted her resignation.

But then she called off Friday.

We'll see what happens on Monday.

She quit again.
First, we got an email that she called off today. I got a bit angry because enough is enough. Then we get an email from HR asking us if we had heard from her. Apparently, she had emailed or called the other attorney she worked for and told him she was definitely not returning. Nice to let the rest of us know......

That sucks. Though truthfully I cannot believe they were even going to give her the opportunity to come back after she quit the way she did.

Hopefully the next one will be better!

UPDATE: I have a temp whose name I cannot pronounce. I'm so happy I will be on the road and out of the office tomorrow, Thursday and Friday

You can't pronounce the temp's name? That's not good.

We had a girl who worked for us about a year ago whose name we couldn't pronounce. We ended up calling her "Kiwi," though I can't remember quite how that got started.

I'm not sure she liked it, but she answered to it. lol

I'm starting to feel really bad making light of Pen's secretary misfortunes.  Hope this one turns out better (and I hope she knows the magnitude of work she's in for)

I had a lengthy meeting today with HR about my woes.

she advised me that they feel confident this secretary is not a quitter as they would not have released her to interview with the attorneys if they got any inclination of the same.

The lady sent me a thank you email for the interview after she went home which I found comforting. The offer was made probably a bit ago by HR so I am hoping this will work.

Remember though - the last one quit because some other firm wanted to pay her to become a paralegal -- that is just bad luck on my part.

I really hope this one lasts and works out well for you. It's about time you got a decent and loyal secretary.
