Wow, did anyone else notice how long it took for someone to rescue Michael? Sayid and Sawyer were not around, and all the red shirts just stood and stared. No wonder none of them are ever mentioned LOL

Soo convenient there were all these backpacks on the plane for people to use on jungle exploration. I know a lot of people use packs on planes, but its almost a blue tarp prop

I love the first glimpse of the Caves. IMO, a place that should be revisited as a location on the island.

We see Adam and Eve for the first time here too. In fact, its also the LAST time that we see them, although as a prop, much talked about. Gosh I love the mystery of these two skeletons.

1. No major trauma to the bones.
2. They were laid to rest
3. Kate knows one is a male
4. LOONG – at least 40-50 years since their death
5. And those black and white stones!!
6. “These are people that were here before us” –then a long pause, Locke asking “what are you talking about” kind of a weird dialogue at this moment

This was the episode I first decided that Jin and Sun were cool characters.

Another Charlie near death experience – BEEHIVE by the caves.

LOL at Locke having both Driveshaft albums and knowing so much about the band.

Island is a magic box – funny how Charlie wishes for his “undamaged” guitar, then Locke says he has faith he’ll see it again, and voila, it appears. Locke needs to have faith they should be rescued methinks

The part with Locke and the Driveshaft albums made me LOL too.

I thought Locke had already seen the guitar on one of his hikes, and that`s why he could say Charlie would see it again with a bit of certainty.

You are probably right Rain. although why Locke didn't say "I saw a guitar on my hike the other day" is beyond me

Meh, they never talked in S1 LOL

Yeah, they never talked.  Also, Locke was still in great-white-hunter-poser mode at this point, really trying to reinvent himself, so I am not surprised he would use Charlie's guitar to convince him of the island's power and his own mystical crapola.

Black and white stones again.  They hit that hard in the beginning but then we didn't raelly see it gain.

I love that this is a Jin/Sun epi but they are thing we are least focused on!  Their initial FB didn't really yield much in the long run, I guess it merely began to set up Sun's inner turmoil over her babydaddy.

Yes, the writing of this episode always struck me. We get a Sun and Jin backstory, but essentially the on island dealings are revolving around other characters, Adam and Eve our big reveal in this one, with the stones.

Unless -- those two are Sun and Jin? Just a wacky thought if that was how the flashback was to tie in

I actually took notes this time!  Posting them, and will comment later on you guys's thoughts.

-How did Michael know Sun and Jin were Korean?  (Could just be that he recognizes the language from being in NYC but that struck me as odd)
-Why is Kate hesitant to move to the caves (away from rescue) given her tendency to run away?
-It's a different perspective watching Sun prepare to leave Jin, knowing about her affair and Jae Lee's death.
-Poignant moment: Charlie cried when he spotted his guitar

Quotes of note (things that mean a lot more now or could mean more given what we know):

Jack, re Adam and Eve: "Someone laid them to rest here."
Kate: "You checking me out?"
Locke: "I know a lot more about pain than you think."
Kate: "I don't want to be Eve."
Micheal: "Time doesn't matter on a damn island!"

Lisa, I am wondering if perhaps you answered your own question:

Why doees Kate not want to leave the beach and move to the caves?  If she is rescued she will likely be thrown in jail, so the island is perhaps a better option for her.

She tells Jack "I can't," and I thought it was just becasue she is a stubborn PITA who can't do what anyone tells her.  But Lisa reminded me that she says "I don't want to be Eve."  Maybe it is becasue she doesn't want to get close to Jack, "move into a cave together" as Hurley said, and be a little domestic couple.  We see later that she couldn't deal with married life, she ended up leaving that guy.  And she has relationship issues from her mother's disatrous relationships.  Maybe that all ties into it?

Ooh, good point Super.  I wasn't thinking along those lines with the quote, more the "are Jack and Kate Adam and Eve in an alternate reality" kind of thing.  But that's a really good point about not wanting an intimate situation with Jack.  All the more reason that perhaps she chose to sleep with Sawyer (knows or thinks she knows he's not the intimacy type??)

There's another good line relating to this in "The Moth" that I will reference in that thread.

If I had to go on the run I think Sawyer would make a much better accomplice than Jack.
