Bumping in anticipation for rewatch.

First thought - for Jack to end up in the jungle, so far away from the rest of the plane wreckage - he must have been thrown off while the plane was still in the air. Even if it was almost before it hit the ground, he should have smashed into the ground - so shouldn`t he be more injured? Like a broken bone at least...

And Shannon`s screams are so eerie... ¨

Also why do Kate too show up just out of nowhere?

It`s interesting how Kate didn`t black out during the crash.

I wonder why Smokey can`t come to the beach? I mean, there is no sonic fence there to ward him off, yet we have never seen him leave the jungle area.

Some thoughts as I rewatch:

Charlie has his first two near death brushes in the pilot episode 1 - when he is nearly hit by the exploding wreckage, and when he falls and is trapped as he, Kate, and Jack run from the monster when leaving the front of the plane. The second time, Jack goes back to save him.

I didn't remember the scene of Vincent watching K/J/C walking to the front of the plane.

Locke was really creepy in the beginning. From his "orange" smile at Kate, to his reveling in the rain as the rest run for cover.

Jack went straight to a bag and found a sewing kit w/o seeming to search. Just because they were short on time, or in light of the time loop idea, did he remember where he found it before - without knowing he was remembering?

Why was the monster so much louder in the pilot? Why were all the trees falling as he moved?

And we see Jack's first  island tears as he tells Kate the fear story. A sign of things to come.

Yes, Locke was really creepy. That orange smile especially. And he seems so much calmer than everyone else.

LMAO at Charlie with his "you all everybody" and he had been waiting for someone to ask him LOL. And he says the "ring is from the tour in Finland" or something??

I am posting my "as I watched list" and will revisit later:

Jack is in the jungle -- why so far from where he should have landed by Rose?
Jack: Looks at Vincent almost with hint recognition
Jack: Similar suit?
Michael’s first line – WAAAAAALT!
Jack: He is running like a madman – trying to save everyone.
Kate: not seen on beach – was this contradicted in Expose flashbacks?
Why does Charlie put F A T E on his hands?
Shannon’s first lines – she is confident the boat is coming to rescue them – she was very reluctant during the show to give in to any belief of the island being special.
Jack: makes leaf airplane—Kate looks at it with recollection – she is thinking of her Tom airplane.
LOL – at watching this and imagining Desmond in the Hatch right now.

Rose – finds monster sound familiar
Charlie – said it was a monkey
Sawyer – mocked Charlie
Kate – finds Charlie familiar – and not because Driveshaft
Why doesn’t Jack warn Pilot to hide from Smokey?? Did he know that this needed to happen? That Pilot needed to die for some reason?
Charlie:
1. almost dies from smoke monster at the front end of the plane;
2. Charlie nearly died – engine nearly fell on him
Kate going back to Jack from the first episode when he is left behind -- she never stops going back for him or wanting to.



I always thought that Vincent's watching of them was creepy -
Jeannie.

Kate starts volunteering to go on missions from day one.

OMG I just remembered how much I jumped when the pilot breated and was alive the first time I watched LOL

So the plane malfunctioned (radio went out) long before they reached the island?

the Charlie/bathroom scene reminds me of the Paolo/bathroom scene later on.

LOL at everyone trying to see what Smokey is. Does Smokey grab the pilot because he climbed out of the plane, or did he WANT the pilot?

Ooh this is very important. I will need to remember this for my theory. It could easily be a TV show suspended disbelief thing, or a CLUE!!

More random thoughts from part 2 of the pilot:

Charlie says, "Every trek needs a coward." Kate replies, "You're no coward." And in the end, we know she's right.

Sawyer to Jack: "Whatever you say, Doc. You're the hero." Jack got pegged with that role early.

I'd forgotten how much I disliked Jin at the beginning. His treatment of Sun sucked. And lmao @ his reaction when Claire makes him feel her belly.

Locke's "Do you want to know a secret?" to Walt. Does he tell Walt about how he couldn't walk. I believe all Walt later tells Michael is that Locke told him a miracle had happened to him. But did he ever tell him more?

Sawyer and Sayid disliked each other so much at the beginning. A big change to where we are now.

The scene with Hurley helping Jack remove the shrapnel from the Marshal still cracks me up. When he faints...

Part 2 of the Pilot - my thoughts:

Charlie:
1. almost dies from flying tray cart pre-crash

Sawyer – kicked the smoking habit without much of a fuss

Locke relays the history of backgammon—5000 years old. Old as our ruins???

Sawyer – doesn’t run when the polar bear comes – he waits and shoots it. Did he remember this from before?

Why did the marshal say “There is always a chance that they will believe your story?” to Kate?

Sayid: “It’s a loop” about the transmission. He could have just said iteration.

Why jam Danielle’s transmission 16 years ago?

Locke`s cut is kinda weird - it starts on his forehead and goes down his cheek, but it looks like his eye is just fine. Almost like he had worn glasses or something.

LOL at Walt - when thinking about how he grows throughout the show. He looks like such a kid in the pilot.

Locke is kinda creepy again, when he leans forward and asks Walt if he wants to know a secret.

The moment when Claire feels the baby move again is so sweet, looks like the first time she realized she wanted him.

Oh and I love the moment the polar bear comes running towards Sawyer and he shoots it.
The polar bears on the island seems mighty aggressive though. I mean, polar bears are predators and all, but usually a bit more lazy than that. And you`d think they be nice and full on boar...

LMAO @ Hurley with the marshall. Saying rescue is here to check if he is passed out. And then fainting himself.

That is true, Pen. Sawyer kicked his smoking without much issue, but Paolo we later see chewing nicotine gum even after a long time...

Doing a comparison to Pilot wreckage scenes and Expose:

its pretty accurate.

We couldn't stomach anymore. Turned off Expose.

It was strange to see Sun and Jin again with Jin being all bossy and stuff.

LOL @ "guess what? I just shot a bear"

Why does everyone but Kate pass out on the plane, when it`s crashing - when she is the one who struggles to put her oxygen mask on and is the one with less air?

And Kate made sure the marshall had his oxygen mask on as well... So she was trying to save his life, even to the point of not having her mask on while putting on his.

Still wondering - why does Charlie write FATE on his hand??? Then he changes it to LATE in Tabula Rasa? What is the significance of doing this?

I also noticed at one point, while he is doing heroin (after having had both Fate and Late on it) the first finger is just blank and it says ATE...

I don't know if this is why Kate did not pass out, but women have a lower center of gravity and are less likely to pass out from g-forces than men (go us).  Or it could be a plot point.  I think it was to show, like rain said, that despite the fact that she was a prisoner, she put the mask on the marshal before herself.

Why did Kate choose the name "Annie" as her alias??

Never cared about this until I remembered a little girl named "Annie" gave Ben a wooden doll of herself on the island....
