I honestly thought Penelope's monitors were Russian and weren't far from there.

Here is why I assumed the monitoring station was either at the North or South pole: I assumed that would be the best place, at a pole, to monitor a magnetic anomaly. Maybe I am nuts. I know little about science. Where are the science peeps? LOL

Yeah, I assumed the same thing as you, Pen.  I just automatically thought it was in Antarctica - because of the magnetic anomaly and the light/darkness thing. I guess we can go be nuts together LOL. Sadly I`m totally clueless as far as science goes...

I was thinking about myself last night (hee hee) and I think I previously missed an obvious clue from the finale:

How did Penelope know to look for a magnetic anomaly in the first place?? And when she last talked with Desmond, he was starting the race around the world. Why is she so certain that he is at Craphole?

If she was indeed looking for magnetic anomaly and knew Desmond was on Craphole, maybe the theory about Libby being Charles Widmore`s daughter is right. And the reason Libby gave Desmond the boat was to arrange so he would end up on craphole, where Widmore has interests??? And then Penelope found out, but not where the island is. Why would he need Desmond there though... Just thinking out loud here - and I realize it didn`t go so well lol.

Continuing the Pen&Rain Speculate thread :

He needed Des there to keep him away from his daughter I think. Everything you just said I agree with completely.

I agree about doing it to keep him away from his daughter. Initially I thought it seemed like going through a lot of trouble, when he could have just had him killed - sunk the boat in the middle of the Pacific for example. But perhaps he realized if Penelope found out he had killed Desmond, she would never forgive him. But sending him to the island, wasn`t quite as un-forgiveable.

But if Libby really is her sister, and Pen knows that she is - I guess she could also be looking for her? If they realize there was abnormal magnetic anomaly the day the plane crashed, maybe Penelope is now searching for the location?

I think Penelope is definitely searching for the location, and I like the idea that she may be searching for Libby and not Desmond...nice twist.

This solves all the doubts I had about how she could possibly know where Desmond is -- I think you may be right! Hopefully we will learn more about this next season. If they did realize something was abnormal magnetically on the date of the crash, then I suspect Penelope may have more knowledge about the island than we originally thought. I just hope she does not end up a 'bad' guy. (for obvious reasons )

If Libby is Widmore`s daughter, and Widmore is either "him" or in some way connected to the events on craphole island, I wonder how he`ll react when he finds out Libby was shot?

I like the idea that Penelope is looking for her sister Libby, except if Penelope knows about Libby, then why wouldn't Desmond know Libby? He knew her father, why wouldn't he know about her sister... if Pen knows about Libby being her sister?

Or did Widmore confess to Pen that she has a sister after the plane went missing?

I don't know, it still makes more sense to me that she is looking for Desmond. She still had the picture of her and Des with her, didn't she? Or maybe I just really like the idea that she is looking for him. lol

As to something said earlier in this thread, I completely agree that Jack and Kate have some kind of plan, and I'm not sure that Sawyer is in on it. I HOPE that Sayid is, and that he thought up the plan, because if it's a Jack plan, they are screwed!

while I like Rain's theory that Pen is actually looking for her sister Libby, I must say that I do not believe it. For all of my crazy character theories to work, Pen must not know about Libby.  At least, Pen did not know about Libby at the time that we saw Libby giving her boat to Des.

I really want Pen to be looking for Desmond too - because I`m a sucker for romance

But I agree - if Pen is looking for Libby, Pen could not have known Libby was her sister before after Libby had given the boat to Desmond.

LOVE this episode so many answers are resolved while so many new mysterious are bought up, and what a great emotinal scene before des turns the key!
