I've started this thread because of 2 things I noticed

1) when first contacted, George on the freighter is very upbeat, like a drive time DJ, the next 2 times the voice is all serious and kinda sounds like a different person, and with the last call with Naomi talking and dying, it is upbeat George again.

2) and when Naomi dropped out of the tree and puts Kate in a strangle hold, she says something like "I come to help rescue you people and you put a knife in my back".

I'm wondering if there are 2 types on the freighter, those that are there to rescue the losties and those that Ben is warning about, that have another agenda

Technically though nobody is there to rescue the losties since even by Naomi they are supposed to be dead .

Which begs the question not of "if" she lied about that but "why" would she lie about that , I mean , if they knew anything about the survivors and even if they were hostiles to the losties the easiest would've been to act as if they were part of a rescue team , reunite all the losties on the beach for a lift and then vlam as a Dalek would say : EXTERMINATE .. EXTERMINATE .

So I think they were genuinely not aware of the losties being stranded on the island and the latter are going to be just a "collateral damage" in the path of conquering the island which is the real reason they came .

OTOH the find815 game revealed that most probably the Widmore Group is behind the discovery of the fake crash of flight 815 ... and going one step further with my reasoning , if they didn't know about it then that would mean that the freighters are not Widmore People . Though the question about why Widmore is faking the crash in the first place would still remain there .

GB's second point shows that Naomi was lying about at least some part of her story.  We know she lied about the boat being Penny's whether she knew it was a lie or not.  And she lied about either being there to rescue Des or being there to rescue the Losties (or, of course, both)

I think the freighter people (or at least the people behind the freighter people) know that Des is alive and there, and that the Losties are alive and there.  The problem is that even when they come up with their explanation, we won't know if they're lying or not.  

My core assumption, as House would say, is the same -  "Everybody lies"

I have no explanation for the mysterious George's behavior

I'm wondering if Kelvin plays some sort of role in this...

Kel, torn between wanting off the island and saving the world, suddenly finds his way out when Des crashes... Kel "borrows" the Des/Pen pic, sneaks into the Flame, and faxes it to DHARMA along with a note of "here's my backup, now I quit. Love Kelvin."

DHARMA, who've probably has been trying to find the island for years now, gets the note and pic and freaks out even more. Their break comes when the hatch implodes and the island is seen for a second.

Their plan is to retake the island, under guise of a rescue team funded by Pen. Fix/Rebuild/restaff the Swan station and maybe exterminate the Others.

But I would think they wouldn't want any non-DHARMA folk to return to civilization and spread the word of what DHARMA's been doing. I don't think anyone's going home anytime soon.
