Yep , you just answered , now if you ask me there is another reason I don't think it was the "77" .. it takes a lot days for a freighter to get to the middle of the ocean , presumably if they were not in the vicinity at least 5 or 6 days .. and I don't think that much time passed since locke presses the button till Naomi parachutes on the island .

Yeah, I'm starting to think the freighter set out once someone learned what Penelope was up to.

I still think if time moves different the days for freighter issue is moot but yeah -- I don't think its the 77 now, refer to me answering my own question above

And I still think whoever is behind the freighter and Naomi parachuting on to the island must have known for some time what is going on on the island, like the fact that Desmond is there (since she brought with her the pic of him and Penelope).

I dunno, if they knew what was going on, you think they'd know how to get there.

I think the Pen/Des pic, and knowing Des is there, is because whoever sent the freighter knows what Penny is doing.

Yes, that is what made me think someone (Penny plus someone else) must know that at least Desmond is on the island.

They probably don`t know all that is going on there, but they must have a way of knowing at least partially what is happening.

Otherwise they couldn`t know Desmond would be there.
It would be more plausible to think he had shipwrecked and drowned somewhere, if no one had told them he had ended up there imho.

This is all assuming that the freighter was sent out from port because of the Enter 77 message. Like Penny had people in place on the frozen tundra monitoring for a magnetic anomoly, someone else could had a freighter roaming the south Pacific looking for the same magnetic anomoly. They also could be a research vessel in the area and when the Enter 77 was picked up despite Ben's attempts at masking it, they started searching. the only drawback to it being a Dharma or Hanso group is that they should know exactly where the island is, as they built the various stations on the island and have been, until recently, been making food drops to the island.
