Naomi speaks many languages:
"Me estoy muriendo" is Spanish for "I am dying"
"Aiutame sto morendo" is Italian for "Help me I'm dying"
She mutters in Chinese

When Mikhail tells Desmond that Naomi said, "Thank you," (or something along those lines), it sounds like she's speaking Brazilian Portuguese and she's saying,"Eu não estou só," which translates to "I'm not the only one," or "I'm not alone." This is possibly in conjunction with the discovery of the backpack containing the book entitled "Ardil 22" the Portuguese-language version of "Catch 22."

"I'm not the only one"/"I'm not alone"... what do you guys think she means?

Are there others (not THE Others) with her, or coming soon? Was there someone else in the helicopter with her that she is trying to say needs help?

one of the Brazilian guys that works here and watches Lost, said that she said "there are others", he said he took it to mean that there were other people with her, which I tend to agree

I agree, too. I suppose her team won't be far. Once they don't hear from her, they'll go looking, I'd imagine.

For some reason, this really freaks me out, maybe they are the real "bad" people.

I was thinking the same thing LG LOL, it just sounded like a bad omen or something.

Whoever she works for doesn`t seem to be too informed though, since they didn`t seem to know about the Losties being on the island.

I'm not sure I trust her, and I got that vibe without reading the translation.

1: It could be Penny's crew and Penny is there.

2. She is bad.

But a good point by hubby: if her "there are others" was meant to be a sign of help, not warning, why not answer in spanish the same question to Hurley when he was asking are there others with you?

I dunno. Something smells like a hamster here....

According to a poster who speaks Chinese, the Chinese translates to "What happened?"

Ooh.. hmm. So, do we take that as her wondering what happened to the helicopter? Or was she just disoriented (sp?) and confused?

So last week Naomi says "I'm not alone"

The transcrïpt from her conversation with Sayid:

Quote :

NAOMI: Island? We were given coordinates in the middle of the bloody ocean. We thought it was a fool's errand. Til three days ago. I was flying back for the ship when all of a sudden the clouds cleared and I saw land. The instruments started spinning, I realized I was going down so, I grabbed my chute and I bailed.

So who was she with last week that she was not alone?  Was she referring to the crew on the freighter 80 nautical miles away?  And we still have the problem with a single helicopter pilot ditching.

Yes, I was wondering about that too WOC. Now she mentioned nothing about the rest of the crew. And also why was she wearing the oxygen mask and all if she was just flying in a helicopter.

she had on an oxygen mask last week? that would only make sense if the copter was in distress right? wasn't it in distress when it started to go nutso in the air?

But aren`t oxygen masks and that stuff what they usually wear on fighter planes, and not on helicopters (the same with bailing out -seems like the thing you do from fighters, and not from helicopters, esp if you`re flying alone)

Oh - i see what you mean.
Not that its unusual to have on -- but unsual for the copter.

Yes -- more military-esque planes to wear that. I cannot remember ever seeing copter peeps with one on.

Can copters fly high enough to need oxygen? I sort of thought they couldn't go that high.

*admits she knows very little about helicopters and could be totally wrong*

I know very little of this stuff too, but I thought as well they wouldn`t be flying high enough to need oxygen. And if so, wouldn`t that be for military helicopters. Why would they assume they would need that kind of equipment on a rescue mission?

I'm just being dumb me -- but i have never seen people in copters with those masks now that Rain mentioned it. So I don't think they have them bc they cannot go that high.
