NOTE: This thread will be a list of mysteries deemed solved or potentially answered in whole or in part about the island and its inhabitants.

If you would like to debate whether one is solved or discuss in detail, please create a separate thread. I will update the first post with our master list as more suggestions are placed in the thread.

POTENTIALLY ANSWERED:
What happened to Cindy = she was taken to the Others camp.
What happened to Children = they were taken to the Others camp.
How Locke can walk = the island's healing properties.
What happened to Miss Klugh = she went to the Flame hatch.

ANSWERED:
What was the cable running into the island = See "Enter 77"
Are the Others and Dharma the same group = no.
Who was there first, Others or Dharma = Others.

ANSWERED VIA THE LOST EXPERIENCE, IN PART:
The Black Rock -- we know it was a ship that was lost at sea, presumed shipwrecked see: http://www.freewebs.com/shipwreckmate/index.htm

Gregg Nations posted these replies to a thread titled "the definitive answer to why the plane crashed" over at the lage, and the difference of Desmond being late that time - and turning the fail-safe key later on:

http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=80436

Quote :

When Desmond caused the plane to crash, the final symbol had not resolved and Desmond was able to enter the numbers before that happened. The system accepted the entry and there was only a breif electromagnetic pulse that shot out. That's what caused the plane to crash.

However, when Desmond turned the fail-safe key, all the symbols had been resolved, the system went into system failure and it was heading towards a China Syndrome-like situation that could've destroyed the world. The only thing to stop it at that point was turning the fail-safe key.

we also were given the answer as to why Danielle's signal was on repeat and no one could hear her distress call --signal jamming at Looking Glass.

I hate to argue with Gregg Nations, but the final symbol did resolve and it did go into system failure. Nice try though.

Maybe someone should post that over at the lage so we can hear what he has to say about it?

I guess we also have a more complete answer on Mrs. Klugh.  She was taken to the Flame, and later was shot and (we presume) killed!

Mrs. Klugh was shot in the chest right? If she didn't die that would be one hell of a wound to recover from.

And let's not forget that if she stayed where she was shot or her body was brought inside, the Flame soon blew up. The shock wave would of finished her off.

Juliet What is that?
Richard Alpert That is orange juice...with a considerable amount of Dharma Calms Forte mixed in.
Juliet You want me to drink it?
