There has been alot of talk about most of our characters killing some one.  This was thought to be the main connection of our Losties. I used to think this way, but I thought of something deeper.  How about guilt over the death of some one.  Like Jin didn't kill Sun's lover (can't remember his name), but he feels guilty because he thinks he jumped, because of his threat.  Another example, Claire feels guilty about her mother bieng in acoma.  What do the rest of you think?

But what about Bernard? Is he feeling guilty because he can't do more for Rose? And where is Rose's guilt?
Of course there is a ton of backstories we haven't seen yet, so they could supply the answers. But still, as you say, there is a lot of guilt amongst the Losties and maybe even some of the Hostiles.

hmmm interesting that Rose and Bernard don't seem to fit that. (at least not that we know of....yet)

The death/guilt thing is a good observation, that could be the whole reason the Losties weren't taken. They weren't "good", they had death in their hearts (or the guilt over someone else's death).   I don't know....but I like it, it seems to connect them.

Yeah, Rose and Bernard don't fit, yet.  But we don't know everyone's back story yet either.  But the core group, Jack, Locke, Charlie, Claire, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Jin, Sun, Boone, Shannon, and Hurley all have guilt over the death of some one.

Oh, i totally agree. Just seems interesting about Rose and Bernard because either we just haven't seen the death OR because they are SPIES!!!!

But Rose is one of the ones who doesn't want to be rescued. She feels she is healed here, if she leaves she'll die and Bernard is willing to stay with her. So those two may not count. I also don't think Locke is feeling much remorse over Mikhail. Mikhail said it was safe to cross the Sonic Hedge, Locke just said "You first". Even the Hostile high council seems to have forgiven him. This theory might just have merit.

Yeah, they all do seem to have some kind of guilt. locke doesn`t seem to have feel much guilt over anything. Boone dying perhaps, when his faith in the island wavers? Other than that he seems to shrug it off.

I was thinking Locke had guilt over the kid Cooper killed.

Very likely.

There's been speculation for a long time that Rose was Walt's gramma... if so, doesn't seem that she knew much about him, which means she could have been on the outs with Susan... it's not murder, but still could be guilt associated with that. But of course, that's pure speculation with absolutely nothing canon backing it up LOL.

That's an interesting theory though.  Maybe we'll learn something about that in the next Rose and Bernard FB.  Whenever that will be.

What guilt did Boone and Shannon have? Or are the dead exempt?

I really like this idea though, just trying to apply to all of them.

Boone had the guilt over Teresa falling up the stairs and down the stairs.

But I think you'd be hard pressed to find any plane-load of people that didn't have guilt over something.

Shannon I believe had guilt over her father dying.  If I remember correctly she wanted him to be proud of her, but died before she could make him proud.  Not sure if that really fits.  Also when Boone died she seemed to feel guilty that she had treated him so badly.

Yeah WOC, I was thinking the same... I think everyone carries some sort of guilt, and whether someone else would see it as serious as they did is regardless, imo. What's guilt to me, may not be to you... each situation varies from one person to the next.

I was thinking more along the lines of feeling responsible for someones death.

Well, we can add Eko for Yemi's death, then.

Maybe Ana finally felt some guilt for killing Jason or whatever his name is, but I doubt it.

Libby... dunno.

maybe it is the lack of guilt of killing someone that is the common thread
