A Friend of mine studied Mary Shelley's Frankenstein at college and she noticed that all the character names are from the book in some way. Especially Locke, Sawyer and Hurley. There are lots of similarities apparently. I wonder what the significance of this is? It Can't just be a coincedence?

What do you guys think?

I never read the book but would be interested in seeing what the actual connections are.  The only connection I am seeing for Hurley is Elizabeth Hurley was in the film (1994) but what is the connection to the book? Now if you can connect that the monster ate some children named Paulo and Nikki then I say bring it on.

Juliet What is that?
Richard Alpert That is orange juice...with a considerable amount of Dharma Calms Forte mixed in.
Juliet You want me to drink it?

Like Ralph said, it would be interesting to see the actual connections.
It's been a long time since I read the book, but I can't remember any characters by those names. But then again, I have a poor memory and only remember the main characters

and at monster eating Paolo and Nikki - I'm all for that too!

interesting theory Frank, but I think it is Mary Sculleys "Borkbot" you are thinking of.   http://www.aceboard.net/kator/smiley133.abgif

Frank - could you elaborate? I read the book about 10 years ago so I need a refresher course! It certainly is a new theory I haven't heard of

There are no major characters in the book that share names with characters on Lost.  I don't think our friend Frank is serious.
